The Kintyre Way - Campbeltown

Champions go the extra mile for the Kintyre Way!

Congratulations to the 2022 Kintyre Way Champions. All are members of the Friends of the Kintyre Way, who help keep the path clear and well signposted to allow local and visiting walkers, runners and cyclists best enjoy their visit. Mark Cosgrove, Marc Ward, Shelagh Oakes, Lorna Holden and Rob Reid cut back overgrown vegetation at Oakwood car park, planted bulbs and prepared the site for a new picnic table and benches, as well as repairing a bench and installing a new finger signpost.
Liz Ness has been helping with beach cleans, path clearing, walking the route with a big jar of KW paint to brighten up the mile markers. She always has her secateurs to clear the path for others and keeps busy with her pyrography, with extra signs on stiles and wooden gates. Alan Milstead, convenor of the Kintyre Way, gave a special thanks to businesses along the route who contributed to the Champions’ Goody Bags: The Gather, Skipness Stores, Clachan Filling Station, Tayinloan Stores, Blackbird Tearoom, Beinn an Tuirc Distillers, Glen Scotia, Fresh Connection, The Larder and Muneroy. Our picture shows Bob Chicken, on behalf of the trustee group, meeting the Champions in Tarbert.
